Israeli President visits vegetable centre in Gharaund, Haryana

Israel's President Reuven Rivlin on 18th November visited the Indo-Israeli Centre of Excellence for vegetables near Haryana's Gharaunda town to see the achievements of the joint agriculture research and innovation project. The President was received by Haryana's Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister O P. Dhankar and Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Karan Dev Kamboj as well as senior officers of the Haryana government. The centre for vegetables in Karnal district, has been operational since January 2011. Both countries share technology and jointly undertake protected cultivation of various vegetables, including tomatoes, cucumbers and capsicum, at the centre. Another Indo-Israel joint Centre of Excellence for Fruits was inaugurated in Sirsa district in May 2013.
