Haryana celebrates its 50th foundation day on 1st November 2016

Haryana celebrates its 50th formation day  on 1st November 2016. The year-long golden jubilee celebrations of the state was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Gurgaon. However, the CM of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar on the eve of Haryana Day, has announced sops for Haryanvis like enhancement of old age pension, widow pension, assistance to destitute children and pension for people with special needs.
Haryana was carved out of Punjab on November 1, 1966 on a linguistic basis. It is a small state that ranks 21st in terms of its land area out of the 29 states of India. Ever since the new state was created, Haryana developed fast to become one of the most economically developed regions in the country with striding growth in agricultural sector and manufacturing industries. Haryana has not got its capital city yet and the city of Chandigarh as a Union Territory continues to serve as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana.
