Haryana’s Jind and Karnal becomes part of NCR, Delhi

Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath on Monday announced the inclusion of two more districts of Haryana within the National Capital Region (NCR), which currently covers 168 cities and towns, spread over four federal states. “Based on the request from Haryana Government, the board has today approved the inclusion of adjoining districts of Jind and Karnal of Haryana state in the NCR,” he said after the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) meet here today.
“One of the important things is that the population growth rate of Delhi has decreased from 47 percent in the ten years from 1991 to 2001. But in the period 2001 to 2011 this came down to 21.2 percent. This proves that the aims and objectives of setting up the National Capital Region (NCR) planning board are on the way to being achieved,” he added.
